    Christmas tree sandwiches for Holidays

Easy-to-make mini Christmas sandwiches are a fun project to make with kids during the Holiday season.

Only 5 ingredients and 10 minutes is all it takes to make a batch of these  Christmas party sandwiches!

This post includes tips and possible variations as well as more Christmas party food ideas. The recipe card includes process photos.

    Possible variations

Use other Christmas themed cookie cutters. When choosing, it’s good to keep in mind their size. A large one can have a lot of cut-offs and small ones might be tricky to cut out with. I would stick to simple shapes like a snowman, a tree or a mitten.

For kids, fill them with jam, Nutella or peanut butter.

Adults can enjoy them with horseradish or sweet Thai chili sauce!

Tips for making Christmas tree sandwiches

    • If making these Christmas tree sandwiches for a large crowd, I suggest buying crustless bread. It will help you reduce the amount of waste (cut-offs) and saves you time. For 12 mini sandwiches, you will need less than 10 minutes!
    • The bread should be thinly sliced. This is important. If the sandwiches are thicker than the cutter, you might have a problem cutting the trees out. I used about a ⅓ of an inch thin slices (1 centimeter) and they were perfect.
    • Any sliced cheese will work here – gouda, mozzarella, edam, cheddar,… Use your favorite one!
    • I used large slices of thinly cut deli ham that I folded in half. Feel free to use any square ham you like (for easy assembling).

Can I make Christmas sandwiches ahead?

Yes, you can. Make them in advance, put on a tray/plate, and cover them with aluminum foil or plastic wrap. Keep in the fridge until ready to serve.

They can be made the night before, but I prefer them being served within 5-8 hours when making them for a Holiday gathering.

    2. Use any cheese you like – cheddar, mozzarella, gouda, edam,…
    3. If the ham you are using is sliced too thin, use 2 slices per sandwich.
