Summer is all about entertaining outdoors and cooking less than necessary. That is why I like to serve a lot of refreshing snacks and easy appetizers that require no cooking at all.

Homemade salsas are our favorites! This is a recipe for a no-tomato salsa, but it’s versatile and easily customizable just like most of them.
Whether they are made with veggies (cucumber salsa) or a combo of fruit and vegetables (pear salsa), they are always a hit at our table.

How to make peach salsa
First, gather all the produce and rinse it under running water. Then, finely chop everything. Mix it in a medium mixing bowl together with lime juice and salt.
Then, cover with plastic wrap and chill in the fridge.
Recipe Q&A
Tortilla chips, whether it be homemade or store-bought are the best!
It is up to you! If you like your salsa spicy, use the seeds as well. If not, remove them.
Yes, you can if fresh peaches are not in season.
Make ahead
Peach salsa can be made in advance and kept in the fridge until ready to serve.
For the best food experience, serve it no more than 8 hours after being made. The longer it sits in the fridge the softer the produce turns.
I don’t recommend making it a day in advance.
Julia’s tips
- To add some extra heat to the salsa, use 2 to 3 jalapenos. For a milder salsa, add only one. They all vary in the level of heat, so if not sure, taste it first and use accordingly.
- Cilantro is a flavorful herb and goes hand in hand with limes. However, you can easily use lemon instead as well. You might need only half, but this again depends on how juicy it is.
- Choose peaches that are not extremely ripe. You want them to hold their shape once cut up. Overripe peaches might turn into a mushy mess when finely chopped.
Possible substitutions:
- Jalapenos – Use other chili peppers like Anaheim or Habanero (these are way spicier so adjust to your taste).
- Red onion – Shallot (for a milder flavor) or white onion (for a stronger flavor).
- Red pepper – You can try substituting it with tomatoes. However, keep in mind that they are extremely juicy and you will need to drain the peach salsa before serving.
Other popular summer appetizers

A Charcuterie Board is one of the simplest appetizers to make. It is perfect for summer as it’s a no-bake snack option.
