    • Sour cream
    • Mayo
    • Parsley
    • Lemon juice
    • Dill
    • Garlic powder

The prep takes literally minutes, especially when using a food processor.

Throw everything into a food processor and pulse until smooth-ish, or until it has a consistency to your liking! We prefer smooth!

    Frequently asked questions

I don’t have a food processor. Can I still make this dip?

Yes, you can. Just finely chop smoked salmon and any fresh herbs you are using and mix everything together.

What to serve with smoked salmon dip?

Vegetables of your choice – carrots, celery, radish, bell peppers,… Fresh baguette or toasted bread. Homemade crostini is a delicious dipper.
Crackers of your choice or breadsticks.

Good to know: While you can serve it with anything you like, we think that toasted bread works best. Veggies are a great option but you might feel that the flavor is somehow different.

    Can I make it ahead?

Yes, you can! You can refrigerate it overnight if needed.

This dip can be served right away but it tastes best when it has time to rest in the fridge so the flavors can blend together. It can be anywhere from 1 hour up to overnight.

    Expert tips

    • Make sure to use fresh lemon juice!
    • Why not make a 2-in-1 dip and add my homemade veggie dip to your party menu. You can double the recipe and use some of that dip as a base for this smoked salmon appetizer! Saves you time and you will end up with 2 different party foods. By the way, both are ready in minutes!
    • We like using fresh herbs and that is what we recommend. But they are not available at all times. And that is when dried herbs come in. You might lose a bit of flavor there (depending on their quality) but they are still doing a decent job.
    • Smoked salmon is salty enough so there is no need to use any salt at all. However, you can add some if you like.

    Instructions

    • Transfer all the ingredients to a food processor and pulse until smooth or until you achieve a texture you like.
    • Refrigerate before serving.

    Notes

    1. This is finely chopped. When using fresh leaves, just grab about a ⅛ cup.
    2. If you don’t have a food processor, simply finely chop smoked salmon and herbs and mix all the ingredients together until well combined.
    3. I like to make a veggie dip first and use some of it for this dip. It is so easy and you get 2 dips in a matter of minutes. You simply add ½ cup of veggie dip to cream cheese and smoked salmon and process in a food processor.
    4. Herbs – If you can, use fresh herbs. But, you only need a little amount for this dip so you can easily substitute it with dried herbs. Just make sure they are not too old. You don’t want to lose any flavor.
    5. You can adjust the quantities of all the ingredients to your liking.
    6. Nutritional values are based on 4 servings when 1 serving is ¼ cup of this dip.
